The rule of thumb is to look for a monument, shop, or landmark in close proximity. There are about 350 gondolas and 400 gondoliers in Venice. The city is built on millions of petrified logs that have been driven into the ground. These were bought to Venice by boat from other countries such as Slovenia and Croatia, our next destination during the trip. We start North and slowly coming south to Dubrovnik.
